I love horror film and horror story book. Five friends are just talking about Ghost. We are talking for five hours. It is really funny. One after another everybody is telling a new story on the same topic. I don’t know any one is there who is just like me. Today I am telling one such story of ghost. The story was in a regional language. So, I change its character’s names and place also. So, as I have read that, I am just translating it for my global readers.
It was a pea size island near Scotland. My grandfather was a teacher in that island, and teaching in a local school. The place was called Lamped. It was early part of nineteen century and telephone was not discovered at that time. He had a bicycle to travel a distance of one mile to reach at his school. The place was almost a no-man’s land. People of that village were depending on cultivation and they were traditionalist. The
Land was not good for agriculture and so people of that village got a few tons of crops every year and they share it among themselves. They were bravo people. After all they were living a very happy live around the year.
There was a person named Allan Cameroon. His house was one mile away from the village. Cameroon was good friend of my grandfather, John Decoct and often he came to the teacher’s house. Once, Cameroon was ill for few days and he died. He had no relatives. So his all wealth was sold but, nobody was ready to buy his house. It kept abandoned.
Few months later, one cowboy, Stewart McGill was passing nearby that house. It was a full moon night. Suddenly he looked at the window of the house. He saw the shadow of Allan Cameroon inside the house. He was frightened and speechless. His heart stopped beating. The hairs were stand like trees.
He started running and running. He reached to the teacher’s house. He told the whole story to the teacher. My grandfather didn’t believe these. He said to McGill that he was a fool. This kind of story has no meaning.
McGill understood nothing, at that time. He told that story to other people. Immediately, the news spread all over the island. The elder people are interested in this connection. They started to give some prediction about that. In this island, only the teacher got the newspaper but not daily. It comes ones in a month. People ran to his house to know that news. That was a party day. Everybody was sitting around a fire in the teacher’s premises. And they were listening from news paper, read by my Grandfather, who was reading that like a newspaper reader. They didn’t left the advertisement also. Even some were reading that twice. In that meeting people from different category were present. Farmers, church’s father, cowboy all were present there. Hoyden was a black smith; he had a shop in the village. He was a person with a terrible straight and trick mind. Any matter, that discus in front of Hoyden, which should be clear to him by the speaker. In such a meeting my grand father was talking about the McGill’s story of Allan Cameroon’s shadow. My grand father was just explaining the whole story using his logic and scientific thought. At that time, one villager came to the teacher and told that the shadow was seen by another person in the same place. This time the person is a woman. It was seen at the same time and same place.
The meet was stop at time. John Decoct didn’t take it seriously. He said that they were just joking. But, Hoyden was excited, he opposed Mr. John Decoct. There was a conflict between John and Hoyden, about the existence of the Ghost. Other members in the meeting were laughing at the black smith. He challenged John Decoct and said, “Hallow! Mr. Teacher, if you don’t believe in Cameroon’s shadow then come tomorrow night in front of Cameroon’s house.” Everybody clapped; John Decoct tried to overlook the matter as a joking. But, Hoyden was not interested. The present, villagers’ opinion was in favor of Hoyden. One of them said, “Mr. John Decoct, if you didn’t believe in those story then you have to prove that.” The teacher thought that if he opposed the challenge of Hoyden he would loss his fame. After a minute he said “Of course, I’ll go. But if I return then, also you people remain same kind of fool.” Hoyden said “O.K. Teacher, first you go and prove it”
